When you rode out that day
did you think that at this spot
you would turn your last crank?
Feel your cadence end?

Leaning against a post, a bike
painted mute, ethereal white,
in memory

and a reminder
to those of us who ride
that each time might be our last.
A reminder to ride vigilant and strong,
because that is our way to life.

    1. Thanks. I had seen photos of ghost bikes, but saw my first one last weekend. It was haunting and stuck with me as I was cycling this past week. With the increase in the numbers and frequencies of distracted drivers and drivers who are, just simply, in a hurry to get from one place to another, I have become hyper-vigilant when bicycling. It’s the only way to be safe.
